In the process of going through my notes from my psychology class I realized that it is very obvious where I began falling asleep in class. At a set point my notes no longer make any sense. They go from being immensly detailed to a few words written at random intervals so that it looked like I was awake.

Here is the clear contrast:

When the prefrontal cortext to amygdala connection is severed the second monkey no longer pressed the bar at the sight of fear in his cohort.

We interpret this as the prefrontal cortex to amygdala being involved in empathy.

Gee. Those latter notes are really helpful…

1. The notes I wrote right before I fell asleep in class looked like some kind of ancient greek codes. I am still trying to decipher them.

1. Whoa. You take notes in complete sentences?  Can you really write that fast?

1. I actually changed some shorthand into real words and added context (which was found in prior sentences that I didn’t feel like transcribing) for the sentences above. Verbatim they look like this:

   When the prefrontal cortext -> amygdala is severed in same circumstances monkey B does not press bar.

   Interpret as prefrontal cortex -> amygdala is involved in empathy
