Scientists have made a surprising discovery about trees. It seems that trees from the tropics all the way up to the chilly boreal forests have evolved so that their leaves are kept at a comfortable temperature of about 70 degrees. This rather unexpected finding has implications for understanding how trees turn sunlight into wood. And it could have implications for trees as they face a warming climate.
