I don’t understand why there is such a big cat fight between the Clinton and the Obama supporters. (I’m not implying that you are, just people & the media in general.) These two people vote the same way!
The only difference I see is whether you want a woman or a (half) black man as President. Or you could look at it like… (If you want to be pessimistic about the “change”) Do you want another white person or another man as President?
The only differences I could find in their voting records are these 8 bills… You would think that such a clash between two candidates should be caused because they have different views, which should be reflective in their voting records…
06/14/2005 Thomas B. Griffith, US Circuit Judge
07/29/2005 Energy Policy Act of 2005
11/18/2005 Tax Reconciliation Bill
02/02/2006 Tax Reconciliation bill
07/11/2006 USEMA Amendment
07/13/2006 Firearm Confiscation Prohibition Amendment
08/01/2006 Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006
09/06/2006 Cluster Munitions Amendment

I’d much rather have a White Woman in the President’s seat than a Black Man.
I don’t really see race having as much impact on politics as sex. A black man is still a man.

So even though the people deny that this is NOT a Presidential race about gender and race… It really does boil down to gender (and race for some others).
I don’t think gender or race should make a difference in politics. It should be voting records. I guess that is why I am so confused about the hype over Clinton and Obama.
I never denied my reasons for voting and cannot speak for others. I would have voted for John Edwards if I had the opportunity but it was unavailable to me.
Like you said, Clinton and Obama are the same difference to me. I’d rather have a woman president.
In regard to the original entry. I made it solely to make an entry.

I think people understimate the importance of personality when it comes to being a leader. As much as I hate W., the one thing I will say for him is that he uses his charm to get things done, even if they are completely the wrong things.
The whole woman/black man thing is irrelevant to me. I have no way of knowing which of those abstractions will actually correlate to a better presidency. I do know that, given their nearly identical positions, the way they’ve run their campaigns, the way they speak, and the way that they conduct themselves in debates, I see Obama as clearer-headed, a better diplomat, a better negotiator, better under pressure, and better able to turn situations into what he wants them to be. Clinton could be, to paraphrase Miles Davis, green with red breath, and I’d still go with Obama.
